I was dismayed to read the article in the Jan. 14, 2017, issue of the Bonner County Daily Bee. It spoke so wondrously about finding sheds. I am also so pleased when I find one — although not looking specifically for such.

One thing the author, Ralph Bartholdt, did not mention was to make an attempt to not disturb the deer and elk while out shed hunting, since that is the time of year when the animals must rely on their internal reserves for survival, until spring grasses regrowth appear.

Perhaps readers could review articles posted by Idaho Fish & Game and other state and federal agencies which promote safety shed hunting, from the animals’ perspective. Let’s try to protect the animals that provide the excitement of an antler find. An addendum would be appreciated.
