Food bank, SASi team up on event
SANDPOINT — Save the date.
The “renewed” and enlarged Sandpoint Area Seniors, Inc.’s garden courtyard will be host to an ice cream social to celebrate Bastille Day on Saturday, July 14, from 3-5 p.m. SASi and the Bonner Community Food Bank are partnering together for an “Empty Bowl” fundraiser to help replace the food bank’s pickup/delivery van as well as assist the many programs at SASi. This is the kickoff for a series that are in the works of international dinners throughout the year.
Bastille Day is the French Independence Day, and to celebrate the day, the event will feature edible bowls with French vanilla ice cream and Ghirardelli chocolate brownies. Along with the delicious bowls, there will also be a “Make It Like Monet” art activity and French “escargot hopscotch” for the adventurist! As this is a fundraiser, the donation of $10 will get you one of the edible bowls, and with a $20 donation, you get the bowl and can participate in the activities.
The public is invited to bring children of all ages to come and enjoy the sweet, cold ice cream, and the rich chocolate tasting brownie! Come and try your artistic side with the art activity and take a turn at a unique hopscotch in the shape of a snail.
Also that day, SASi’s Saturday dance with the live band, “Country Plus,” will be in the main building from 1-4 p.m. The dance is open to the public.
