Thorne hosting reverse job fair
DOVER — Thorne Research is hosting another job fair on Friday, Aug. 3 to assist employees who have chosen not to relocate with the company to South Carolina.
The reverse job fair runs from 1-4 p.m. at Thorne’s manufacturing facility along U.S. Highway 2.
Thorne has invited approximately 60 local businesses to attend the fair and meet employees.
“This is a great thing for both sides as local businesses are always struggling to find good employees and some of our employees have not looked for a new job in quite a few years,” Kathy Hall, Thorne’s human resources manager, said.
Thorne hosted a successful reverse job fair in June and Hall expects the August fair, the last one being held, will be even bigger.
All of Thorne’s employees were offered packages to move to the company’s new manufacturing facility in Summerville, S.C. Those who elected to hang back were offered a package to stay on until a particular date relevant their department, according to Hall.
Approximately 150 skilled employees opted not to relocate to South Carolina, Hall said. Those workers are skilled in encapsulation, customer service, quality control, sales and marketing, engineering, shipping, inventory data analysis, biotechnology, maintenance, packaging, custodial and food services and equipment operation.
