Beardmore narrowly escapes death

C. W. Beardmore narrowly escaped drowning when he fell from the Pend Oreille river bridge. A recently sunk pile driver was being lifted. John Ferguson, working on the driver, set out in a rowboat to attempt rescue. When Beardmore was nearing the surface, a rope was thrown to him but missed by a few feet, and he was carried farther downstream and luckily came up within reach of a boom stick to which he clung until help reached him.

Fishing flap

After several minutes of reeling in, the boys were near the exhaustion point only to find they had hooked each other’s lines.
