THE GOAT “TOO STRONG”

Joe Willi, handsome young manager of Priest River’s City market, writes that he is “chawmed” with army camp life, as all the boys have to do is drill from 5:30 a.m., until 6 p.m. reveille, every day in the week, Sundays and the Fourth of July included.

The famous goat Joe took with him as a mascot was a little too “strong” to suit the captain of recruits, so just after Joe taught him to eat cigarette stubs and salute his superior officers the captain sent him to the guardhouse where he could take his “bawths” a little more regularly and is there receiving training on how to get the Hun. “Bill” evidently believes there are a few pro-Germans in camp, as he already has tried to “get” several soldiers, using his horns as bayonets.

NO GRUB; NO TRAINS

A.T. Park was told that two train crews left their trains at Ponderay last night when they could find nothing to eat in the town. They will be reported for interfering with government business as there were government shipments on the trains.
