BONNERS FERRY — Thanks to the quick action of responding agencies, the Rock Creek Fire in Boundary County was swiftly contained, according to Mike Meier, Boundary County public information officer.

The fire, located at milepost 517 on Highway 95 — about 10 miles north of Bonner Ferry — is not a danger to any local residences, and there are no evacuations of any kind. Meier said fire crews have surrounded the fire and have it contained. Water will continue to be applied to the fire via on the ground fire fighters and fixed wing and helicopter aircraft, he added in a press release.

“Members of Hall Mountain Fire, North Bench Fire, Curley Creek Fire, Paradise Valley Fire, South Boundary Fire and the Idaho Department of Lands Fire have done a fabulous job of working as a team on this fire,” he said. “Due to the quick response of all agencies this fire was controlled quickly.”

Fire units along with Boundary County Ambulance will be on scene for some time until the fire is deemed safe.

Meier thanked the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, Boundary County Ambulance, Hall Mountain Fire, North Bench Fire, Curley Creek Fire, Paradise Valley Fire, South Boundary Fire and Idaho Department of Lands for a job well done.
