POAC exhibit delivers an 'Ode to Water'

| July 19, 2018 1:00 AM

Living near one of the most beautiful lakes in the world makes it fitting to theme an art exhibit “Ode to Water,” which is exactly what Pend Oreille Arts Council has done. Opening Friday at the Power House, 120 Lake St., with an artists’ reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m., this show features the works of 15 local artists.

“Water makes up about 60 percent of our bodies and it is a necessity to all life on this planet,” Emily Bond, POAC’s Visual Arts Coordinator said. “It captures color, represents beauty, danger the unknown, life itself and so much more.

“In this exhibit, we have gathered pieces that demonstrate the many scenes and emotions water cultivates. These pieces are portrayals of water through the artist mind.”

Bond said that the public is invited to view these unique pieces of art and “to experience these works through their own lens and experience. The ‘Ode to Water’ exhibits the importance water plays in our lake community and in our world.”

This show will be on display until Oct. 29. For more information about this exhibit and other POAC sponsored events, go to www.artinsandpoint.org. Or stop by the POAC Gallery and Office on the second floor of the Cedar Street Bridge, Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
