Rotary Club of Ponderay awards scholarships

The Rotary Club of Ponderay Centennial gave out 29 scholarships at the end of the school year to deserving students who were either graduating seniors from SHS, Forrest Bird Charter, and Lake Pend Oreille or students continuing their education in college.
A total amount of $15,750 was divided among the 29 scholarships with all the money coming from the club’s fundraising efforts throughout the year. The Duck Derby annual event at Schweitzer Mountain in the spring and the Mowter Madness lawn mower races in the summer are fundraisers that the club puts on to raise money for local scholarships.
