Mike Lauter, jailed since March when he was arrested when a dragnet was out for IWW offenders, was released from custody Wednesday after the federal grand jury failed to return an indictment against him. Lauter had two dynamite caps in his pocket when arrested. He showed he was not an IWW member and claimed he had the dynamite as blacksmith in Shaffer’s logging camp. For weeks authorities were of the opinion that he had committed no wrong but inasmuch as he was held to federal court investigation he could not get out of custody until his case was formally passed upon by the grand jury.
