PRIEST RIVER — Priest River senior Drayven Ayers will take his talents to the next level, signing a letter of intent to run track next season at the University of Jamestown in North Dakota.

Ayers, a lithe three-sport athlete who also did cross country and soccer, plans to do the high jump, run the 200 and compete on relays at the NAIA Division II program, which competes in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

Ayers was offered a $14,000 track scholarship, which is renewable every year, and plans to study radiology.

After clearing 6-0 in the high jump and clocking a personal best 23.48 in the 200 at the 3A state meet, Ayers will go about improving those marks in college.

“The brand new competition, the next level to strive for,” said Ayers of what he is looking forward to most in college. “I’ve always been good at running, and here I can excel at it.”
