SFCC honor roll announces honors

The winter 2018 honor roll list at Spokane Falls Community College includes more than 2,000 students. To receive honor roll status, students must earn a 3.0 grade point average or higher and be full-time (at least 12 credits).

Among those from the area who earned the honor are Matthew Burkett, Samual Bush, Hunter Clark, Kerri LeVasseu, Stacy LeVasseur, Seth Reed,Hadley Stratton, and Bret Willner, all of Newport, Wash.; and Alina Bashinskaya of Blanchard.

SFCC serves more than 8,000 students per year on the Spokane and Pullman campuses and online, offering associate degrees for students transferring to four-year institutions, career and technical programs and applied baccalaureate degrees. Opened in 1967 as part of the Community Colleges of Spokane, SFCC boasts a transfer rate of more than 60 percent.

Eastern Washington dean’s list released

The EWU dean’s list is released after every fall, winter and spring quarter. The fall and spring quarter lists also include students on the semester system. An undergraduate student who earns 12 quality hours and receives a GPA of 3.5 or better is placed on the dean’s list.

Among those who earned the academic honor are:

Sandpoint ­— Amanda Arriondo, Brent Mellgren, Elizabeth Parsley, and Kaitlyn Flood.

Spirit Lake — Jeremy Gerhardt and Shantell Willette.

Smith named to BJU dean’s list

Sagle resident Joel Smith, a senior graphic design major, was among over 800 Bob Jones University students named to the spring 2018 dean’s list.

The dean’s list recognizes students who earn a 3.00-3.74 grade point average during the semester.

Located in Greenville, S.C., the university has nearly 3,000 students from nearly every state and more than 40 countries.

Bankson graduates Cornell College

Cornell College conferred degrees on 216 students during its annual commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 13, including Cody-Lee Bankson of Sandpoint.

After years of studying and lots of memories with classmates and faculty members, the class of 2018 gathered in the Richard and Norma Small Multi-Sport Center for an indoor ceremony.

Cornell College’s picturesque campus is located in Mount Vernon, Iowa, and features a student body from 42 states and 17 foreign countries, and renowned visiting speakers, faculty, and entertainers.
