June 12, 1968 — TOURNAMENT CHAMPS

Sandpoint’s American Legion baseball team won an invitational tournament in Moscow last Saturday to open its season. Team members are Steve Johnson, Duane Abromeit, Jack Parkins, Chris Clark, Bruce Carter, Larry Jeffries, Steve Klatt, Dale Jeffries, Jack Collison, Roy Jacobson, Dan Spiller, John Scott, Bob Klatt, Gary Churchill, Steve Knoblich, Craig Leckner, Ralph Sletager and Don Gunter. Head Coach is Chuck Pederson, assistant coach is Iz Lefebvre.

BEACH HUT WORK CONTINUES

Lions Club members Wayne Hook, Frank Wright, Louis Mitchalk, Bill Nordeen and Dave Rud and volunteers Art Miller and Jack Pierce worked for nine hours at the city beach Saturday preparing logs for use in the superstructure of the beach hut. Construction of the building is one of many beach projects undertaken by the Lions. Northern Lights donated the use of a truck and McFarland donated the logs.

Mr. and Mrs. Dan Robinson and Elaine Robinson motored to Moscow Sunday for the University’s graduating ceremonies where Phillip and Anita Robinson received their B.A. degrees.

June 12, 1918 — CITY BREVITIES

A daughter was born this morning to Mr. and Mrs. Leland Racicot of 315 Lake street.

The Cedar street bridge is being replanked.

Dr. L.J. Stauffer, who has located here for the practice of medicine, will have an office in the Allen building.

One of the city’s sand barrels on south First near the bridge was shoved about 35 feet last night by an out-of-town automobile which struck it while under a good head of speed. The driver missed a bad spill by a narrow margin but kept on his way south with one cylinder responding.

REGISTER GERMAN ALIEN FEMALES

The department of justice announced the rules and regulations for the registration of German alien females. The registration throughout the United States will begin Monday, June 17, and continue each day thereafter, including Sunday, to and including June 26. Registrations will be taken in all cities with population of 5000 or over.

MUST FACE DEFENSE COUNCIL

Several men, whose contributions to the war chest fund have not met with the approbation of the County Defense league, are summoned to appear before the league tonight. The meeting is to he held for the express purpose of taking up with them the matter of their contributions and find if they will not raise the amounts of pledges they proposed when the solicitors recently interviewed them in the war chest drive.
