Week brings a great mix of entertainment options

SANDPOINT — There’s no shortage of activity this week and the best thing is, there’s a tremendous mix of options to choose from.

Tonight brings us two great Americana bands in concert at the Panida, Friday features a wonderful performance by the Pend Oreille Chorale at First Lutheran Church and another concert by two hit songwriters on the Panida stage. Also Friday, the musical version of “The Addams Family” opens at the Pend Oreille Playhouse in Newport.

Thursday, June 14

Trivia Takeover

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6:30 p.m.

A fun event for the winery, come check out the trivia action. Teams encouraged, but not required.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

Yarn with the Slocan Ramblers

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: Doors at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m.

The Slocan Ramblers and Yarn will share the Panida stage for one night only. These two Americana supergroups have distinctive styles that captivate audiences and will have Sandpoint dancing in the aisles of the beautiful Panida Theater.

Open Mic with Kevin Dorin at MickDuff’s Beer Hall

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6 p.m.

MickDuff’s Beer Hall and Kevin Dorin are excited to welcome local artists for a fun and open night of playing at the Beer Hall. All levels of performers are welcome.

The set will be recorded live and artists will have access to the audio. Also, this an opportunity for you to work with a professional sound guy who will work to mic you up and get your levels to show the best version of you.

Pend Oreille Chorale

Pend Oreille Chorale presents classical music by well-known composers and our own director, Mark Reiner, during this Something Old and Something New performance.

Brown Salmon Truck

This Sandpoint trio of Drew Browne, Samantha Carston and Truck Mills play

traditional to contemporary blues, jazz, Latin and more.

Devon Wade

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Devon is an independent country music artist out of Sandpoint Idaho with a strong love for what country music has always been – songs about real life. Admission: Free to those 21 and over.

Ron Kieper

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-8 p.m.

Ron is in the house to soothe your soul, tap your toes, sway a bit and simply enjoy yourself. Bring a friend, make it a great time!

‘Song of the Open Road’

Venue: Circle Moon Theatre, located on Highway 211, 3 1/2 miles north of Highway 2, near Newport, Wash.

Join a cast of wise and quirky Hobos who find themselves with an unexpected challenge or two on their hands.

‘LaVoy: Dead Man Talking’

LaVoy: Dead Man Talking is a bio-documentary series on the life and death of LaVoy Finicum – the Arizona rancher killed in Oregon on Jan. 26, 2016.

Living Well

Venue: Sandpoint Farmers Market, Farmin Park, Third Ave. & Oak St., downtown Sandpoint.

Time: Market starts at 9 a.m., music from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Enjoy the sights and sounds and tastes of market festivities as you listen to the music of Living Well.

DanceWorks year-end recital

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 3 p.m.

Come and see how the progress pays off at this year’s spring year-end dance show.

Summer Cornhole Classic

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: Registration ends at 12:30 p.m., first toss at 1 p.m.

It’s the annual Summer Cornhole Classic (Rain or Shine)! Cornhole kings and queens will be taking to outdoor court or inside the brewery where they will have up to four regulation courts set up to test your tossin’ abilities in a double elimination tournament.

Register via phone at 208-209-6700, by dropping in days before or day of at 11am (that’s when the doors open).

Admission: $10 per person or $20 buy-in per team for those 21 and over.

The Working Spliffs

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

This five-piece band features a horn section, two bass players, versatile guitar work, and harmony vocals. Formed in 1999, Working Spliffs began as a reggae band and has evolved into a group with a horn section that incorporates elements of reggae, Ska, Blues, R & B, Psychedelic Rock, and Jazz.

Creations’ Discovery Through Art Special Needs Class serves up to 15 special needs participants and their caregivers each class. Art instructors, Mary Maio and Shery Meekings, meet each student where they are at cognitively and physically as they explore a new art medium every week.
