Area water safety program planned

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint Parks & Recreation and Sandpoint West Athletic Club are teaming up to present 7B Drowning Free.

The family/community water safety program is open to those 10 years to adult.

After completing this presentation, participants will be able to recognize the importance of water safety training and swimming lessons, describe the circle of drowning prevention and the chain of drowning survival, understand the elements of water competency, explain steps to take to remain safe in, on, and around water. The program will be presented by highly experienced, certified water safety and lifeguarding instructors.

The registration deadline is June 26. The class will be held Friday, June 29 from noon-2 p.m. at the City Beach lifeguard shack.

There is no charge for the program. However, but a minimum of four registered participants are needed to run the course.
