Forty percent of American children will sleep tonight in a home where their fathers don’t live. The impact of that reality will be examined at Lifetree Café on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 2 p.m.

The program, titled “FatherLess: Getting past the pain of an absent or abusive dad”, features filmed interview with Donald Miller, the best-selling author of Blue Like Jazz and Father Fiction. In the interview, Miller describes growing up without a father and his attempts to reconnect with his father later in life.

“It never occurred to me I didn’t have a dad as I was growing up,” Miller says during the interview. “There are 27 million kids growing up in the U.S. without a father, so there are a lot of us, everywhere. Every time you walk into a room full of people, the fatherless crisis is in that room.”

During the episode, Lifetree participants will be given the chance to share how their relationship with their own father has impacted their lives for better or worse.

Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Lifetree Café meets at Jalapenos, 314 N Second Avenue, Sandpoint, Idaho.
