Office offers fireworks purchase reminder

| June 20, 2018 1:00 AM

The Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office is reminding everyone that the purchase of fireworks from unlicensed wholesalers or persons on the internet is illegal. Orders for fireworks may only be placed over the internet when purchased from a licensed Washington state fireworks retailer, but fireworks must be picked up at the retail fireworks stand during the legal sales period.

Celebrate this Fourth of July safely and legally, the agency sais in a press release. Know the dates and times when fireworks are allowed in your community and be sure the fireworks you purchase are legal to possess and discharge.

Personal fireworks require personal responsibility, the release notes, and advises to remember the three “Bs” of fireworks safety:

- Be prepared — Have water nearby and put pets indoors

- Be safe — Only adults should light fireworks

- Be responsible — clean up fireworks debris
