Spirit Lake honors officer

Spirit Lake Police Department honored one of their own at the June 12 Spirit Lake City Council meeting.
At the meeting, Police Chief Dennis Sanchez presented Officer Ben Kirkendall with Spirit Lake Police Department’s Award of Achievement, which was earned as a result of his professionalism and exceptional investigative work. Those efforts, Sanchez told the council and those present, led to the apprehension of multiple suspects wanted on various charges.
This award is presented for an outstanding act or achievement by an employee who goes above and beyond the scope of expectation in their duties that brings great credit not only to the individual, but to the department as a whole, Sanchez said.
“Congratulations Officer Kirkendall on a job well done,” Sanchez said on the department’s Facebook page. “We are proud of you.”
