Veteran appreciation barbecue is set

A veterans appreciation barbecue will be held Tuesday, June 26, in Newport,Wash. The barbecue will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 211 S. Union Ave, Newport.

The event is free for all veterans and their family members. The Spokane Mobile Vet Center will be on site to help with any veteran-related issues.

Vet Centers are the people in Veteran Affairs who welcome home war veterans with honor by providing quality readjustment counseling in a caring manner. The staff members understand and appreciate veterans’ war experiences while assisting them and their family members toward a successful post-war adjustment in or near their community.

They are committed to serving veterans of all eras. The goal of coming to the area is to connect veterans with resources, VA benefits (disability compensation, burial, and medical), counseling, readjustment counseling, and answering any question they may have concerning their benefits that they have earned.
