It's a festival of fun as films, travel take the stage
SANDPOINT – Film festivals? Check. Exotic slide shows of adventurous treks through India? Check. Amateur radio buffs sharing their stuff, social dances and more live music than you can shake a pile of sticks at? Check ‘em off, because this week is loaded with chances to get out and enjoy what Sandpoint has to offer.
The Sandpoint Radius Film Festival takes place all day Saturday at that very same downtown landmark theater and a photographic treat is in store on Saturday as Tina Friedman shares Part 1 of her India Slide Show at the Library.

‘The Catcher Was A Spy’
Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.
Time: 7:30 p.m.
This gripping, stranger-than- fiction espionage thriller brings to life the true story of Moe Berg, the professional baseball player who became a World War II spy.

Sandpoint Radius Film Festival Pre-Event
Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Sandpoint Radius Film Festival is the brainchild of a core group of talented filmmakers, producers, directors, artists and actors. Their goal is to create a festival that caters to Inland Northwest filmmakers with ample opportunities for networking, discussions and learning.

Miah Kohal Band

The Beat Diggers
Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Made up of all locals, The Beat Diggers share cool tunes, ear candy harmonies, and epic rock and roll. This band of innovators includes lead guitarist and vocalist Benny Baker, drummer Ali Maverick Thomas, Christine Kester, Mike (Big Dog) Poulin, Rob Smith, and whoever may stoke the stage to instigate true musical treats.

Tina Friedman India Slide Show Part 1
Venue: East Bonner County Library-Sandpoint Branch meeting room, 1407 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

She will be sharing many of her photos, along with stories of her many adventures traveling solo throughout various parts of India. This session will feature Sikkim (foothills of Himalayas), Varanasi (Spiritual City of India), Agra (Taj Mahal), and Jaipur.

‘June Bug Ball’
Venue: Sandpoint Community Hall, 204 S. First Ave., in Sandpoint.
Time: 7-10 p.m.
Come celebrate the fun tradition of social dancing in Sandpoint. This dance starts with a Hustle lesson will be taught by a local professional instructor from 7-8 p.m., followed by general dancing, refreshments, door prizes, mixers and more. Singles and couples are welcome.
