This country’s immigration problems are a direct result of being ignored by Congress for over 40 years. While President Trump’s zero tolerance policy seems unnecessarily harsh, it did finally get Congress to acknowledge the immigration problems. Let us hope that they can enact some meaningful solutions to the problems. This will mean congressional members will finally need to stop playing politics with the problems and start working together to find solutions to them.

The separation of immigrant children from their families seems harsh. Most of the children involved are probably being better cared for now than when they were with their families. The children in question were being used by their parents as a means to enter this country. The children should be deported along with their parents. This will take a long time because of the number of aliens involved. Congress needs to solve these problems. I don’t see this happening, it would mean both parties working together for the common good. Something that that hasn’t happened in over 40 years.
