Beware boating beneath bridge

| June 28, 2018 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The Bonner County Sheriff’s Office is urging boaters to use caution navigating Lake Pend Oreille under the U.S. Highway 95 Long Bridge.

Large logs have been accumulating beneath the span and causing obstructions. The Idaho Transportation Department has been advised of the issue, sheriff’s officials said.

There is a significant amount of fallen timber in the lake and Pend Oreille River due to breaches of booms at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Clark Fork Driftyard.

Repairs to the booms were delayed due to flooding conditions this spring.
