Week packed with more fun than you can imagine

SANDPOINT – Let’s just say there’s more fun out there this week than any of us could rightly expect to take in. Try anyway.

Get out tonight for the Summer Sampler at Farmin Park and swing by Yappy Hour at Greasy Fingers Bikes n’ Repair, too.

Friday s big, with the opening of POAC’s 41st annual Art Walk and an after party dance with Bright Moments at Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters. Saturday boats a Walk in the Woods outing at the Pine Street Woods and next Wednesday, it’s Independence Day in Sandpoint, with parades, entertainment, fireworks and more.

Thursday, June 28

Summer Sampler

Venue: Farmin Park.

Time 5-8 p.m.

Here’s your chance to try small bites and libations from Sandpoint’s finest food and drink establishments, plus enjoy live music by The Other White Meat. Admission is free, and tickets are $1 each. Food and drink items range from $3-$7. For each 10 tickets purchased, you will be entered into a drawing for a pair of Festival at Sandpoint concert tickets! Sponsored by Litehouse and hosted by the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce.

Yappy Hour

Venue: Greasy Fingers Bikes n’ Repair, 108 N. Third Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 4-7 p.m.

A tail-waggin’ good time! Bring your dog and enjoy a Panhandle Animal Shelter benefit with live music, beverages, and fun.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

Trivia Takeover Live

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6 p.m.

A fun event for the winery, come check out the trivia action. Teams encouraged, but not required. Specials on glasses of wine as well.

Brian Jacobs

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6 p.m.

Brian Jacobs is excited to grace the stage for the Beer Hall’s Thursday Night Solo Series! It’s just him, his guitar and a lot of great tunes.

41st annual POAC Art Walk Opening Receptions

Venue: More than 20 downtown Sandpoint locations.

Time: 5:30-8 p.m.

A revolving art exhibit starting with opening receptions at 20-plus downtown galleries. Exhibits remain on display through Sept. 8. Local artisans, galleries, and business owners throughout downtown Sandpoint collaborate each summer for this event. Maps are available throughout downtown.

ArtWalk Reception

Venue: Art Works Gallery, 214 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The Art Works gallery will celebrate Sandpoint’s 41st Annual Art Walk with an opening reception. Join us for conversation with member artists and browse our unique collection of local and regional art.

Bright Moments & Art Walk After Party

Walk in the Woods: Bike and Hike

Venue: Pine Street Woods, located off Pine Street Loop.

Time: 10 a.m.

Residents are invited to discover all that the Pine Street Woods community forest will offer through Kaniksu Land Trust’s Walk in the Woods series. Bring your bike and ride along with Julie Meyer or take a vigorous, more challenging hike with Eric Grace. Both outings start at 10 a.m. and will discover the best of the future Pine Street Woods.

Tina Friedman India Slide Show Part 2

Fourth of July celebration

Venue: Parades in downtown Sandpoint; fireworks at City Beach.

Sandpoint Lions Club sponsors parades downtown in the morning; stage performances and a raffle follow at City Beach in the afternoon, plus fireworks at dusk. Due to road construction on Cedar Street, this year’s Fourth of July parade begins at Fifth and Church, goes east on Church, north on First, west on Main, merges onto Oak and goes west to Fifth again, turning north to Cedar then west again (ending between Fifth and Sixth).

Clark Fork Freedom Run, Parade & Fireworks

Venue: Downtown Clark Fork

The Freedom 5K Fun Run is put on by The Filling Station Youth Center to generate college scholarships for CFHS graduates. The Clark Fork Fire Station hosts a pancake breakfast from 7:30-9 a.m., followed by a parade at 9:30 a.m., and foot races, food, and raffles in the Clark Fork school yard. Fireworks at dusk.
