| March 1, 2018 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The 2018 Smokin’ Aces Tour, which kicked off on Feb. 10 with the Montana Championship Slopestyle at Big Sky Resort, now heads to Schweitzer Mountain Resort for the Idaho Championship Slopestyle on Saturday, March 3.

Both resorts host the largest terrain parks in each state, allowing competitors to throw the largest tricks at any event in the greater Northwest United States.

Moving into its fifth year, the Smokin’ Aces Tour continues to serve as a competitive platform for young slopestyle skiers and snowboarders in the northern Rockies to showcase their talents on the rails and big air jumps. The tour began as a small competition at Whitefish Mountain Resort in 2014 and has since expanded to the largest terrain parks in Montana and Idaho.

Over the past four years, hundreds of young skiers and snowboarders have used the Smokin’ Aces Tour as a means to compete and gain experience. ?Several former Smokin’ Aces competitors ?like Jack Lam and Konnor Ralph have gone on to compete in larger event series like the US Freeskiing Revolution Tour, sanctioned by the US Ski & Snowboard Association. A win at this level ensures qualification for a World Cup event.
