Week is packed with plenty of fun things to do

SANDPOINT — The Follies are upon us, with two sold-out shows this Friday and Saturday at the Panida. If you missed your chance to grab tickets for this extravaganza, worry not — there’s plenty going on around town.

Bridges Home Trio at last emerges from the studio after completing tracks for our upcoming CD with a show Friday night at the Pend d’Oreille Winery. On Saturday, catch Mobius Riff at Eichardt’s and check out the Beans & Brews Chili Cookoff that same evening at the Ponderay Events Center. Also Saturday, it’s Mega Demo Day at Schweitzer — try out gear from the next season now.

Friday, March 2

Angels Over Sandpoint present 16th annual ‘Follies’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: Doors open at 7 p.m. and the variety show starts at 8 p.m. (An additional show is scheduled for March 3)

This is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Angels — an event that specializes in a spectacle of the politically incorrect variety. The Follies are Rated R for risky, racy and risqué and you must be 21 or over to attend.

Admission: $25 each (if not sold out), available at Eichardt’s, Petal Talk or at the door (if not sold out). Online tickets are sold out for both performances.

Time: 5-8 p.m.

It’s been a while since we got out — we’ve been in the studio wrapping up our new CD — and we’ve missed our friends! Come early to nab a good listening table and enjoy the night of music. We look forward to seeing you!

Blues Night

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Love the blues? Then the Beer Hall is the place to be.

Admission: Free to those 21 and over.

Fat Lady

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 9 p.m.

If you’re looking for a mild-mannered concert experience, then avoid Fat Lady at all costs! Led by Schuyler Dornbirer, one of Spokane’s premier guitar players, the group’s ‘60s rock-inspired originals and covers are far from tepid or trepidatious. This band gets it on and gets down!

Admission: Free for those 21 and over.

Tarzan: The Stage Musical

Venue: The Bing Crosby Theater, 909 W. First Ave., in Spokane.

Time: 7 p.m.

Based on Disney’s epic animated musical adventure and Edgar Rice Burrough’s Tarzan of the Apes, “Tarzan” features high-flying excitement and hits, like the Academy Award winning ‘You’ll Be in My Heart’ make Tarzan an unforgettable theatrical experience.

First Free Saturday

Venue: Bonner County History Museum, 611 S. Ella Ave., in

Sandpoint.

Time: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Join your friends at The Museum for a day of soaking up our rich local and regional history. The museum is always filled with fascinating exhibits, so this is a great chance to check them out if you haven’t already.

Mobius Riff

Realizing that we say this every time this band plays, it does bear repeating — Mobius Riff is simply one of the most talented ensembles out there. Don’t mss this chance to enjoy their exemplary musicianship.

Naughty Pine

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 9 p.m.

Making their Sandpoint debut at the Niner, Naughty Pine will entertain you by mixing irreverent innuendo with a tried and true blend of soulful reggae, Naughty Pine music is about love for your fellow man, life’s struggles, and burning trees.

Riff Hangers with Mike Johnson

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Never a dull moment when the Riff Hangers are holding musical court and this show features special guest Mike Johnson in the bargain!

Dusty Drennen (aka Dustin Hoffman)

Venue: Ice House Pizzeria, 140 W. Main St., in Hope.

Time: 5:30-8 p.m.

Mega Demo Day at Schweitzer

Venue: Schweitzer Mountain Resort

Time: 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

A great event for a great cause! At least 16 brands of skis and snowboards will be represented with over 400 pairs of skis and boards! Ski and snowboard representatives will be bringing gear for the 2018-19 season for you to try before anyone else in this market. You get to be the gear tester and let all your friends know what great things are happening next year. The best part is that 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to PAFE – the Panhandle Alliance for Education. Simply put, you get to try great gear and all of the money goes toward educational grants in Bonner County.

Beans and Brews Chili Cook-Off

Venue: Ponderay Events Center, 401 Bonner Mall Way, in Ponderay,

Time: 5-8 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to attend this tasty event and proceeds benefit the Hope Memorial Community Center and Preschool.

Admission $20, includes all the chili samples (and other munchies) that you can eat!

Spokane Symphony Pops: The Steep Canyon Rangers

Venue: Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, 1001 W. Sprague Ave., in Spokane.

Time: 8 p.m.

Enjoy an evening of rugged, rootsy folk, country and bluegrass. Steep Canyon players are modern bluegrass music’s hard-charging innovators, with Nicky Sanders’ gale-force fiddle breakdowns and Mike Guggino’s blistering mandolin solos, this North Carolina band earned a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album in 2013.

Sandpoint Contra Dance

Live music will be provided by Dog Paw and all dances will be called by Emily Faulkner. Previous dancing experience is not necessary. Bring clean, comfortable, non-marking shoes to dance in.
