The mayor and city council of Hope want to thank all who helped us during our recent water crisis, when residents were without water for six days, and without potable water for 22 days.
We want to thank Anna Moody and Jim Williamson of DEQ for their guidance and for expediting testing the water to ensure safety; Bob Howard of Bonner County Emergency Management, for connecting us with necessary resources and guidance; the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office for the loan of a snow-track vehicle to access our water source; the Sam Owen Fire Department for opening their station for showers and water; Pend Oreille Shores Resort for the use of their showers; Mike Dean of Dean Trucking & Excavation for assistance in locating valves; George Gow of Weekend Hoe for clearing access to the main tank; Harley Lippert and crew of Lippert Excavation for their prompt and diligent repair of a serious leak; the crew of Big Sky Development for timely repair of our main reservoir; and our maintenance man Robert Moore and our water operator Marty Lowell for daily service above and beyond the call of duty.
Other people who have not been named offered their help during this time, and it was much appreciated during the cleaning of the sand filters and the inspection of the water source. Finally, our thanks to all the residents in Hope for their patience, their support, and their good will during a very difficult time.
