Winter birding class Saturday

Join outdoor educational specialist and field ornithologist Brian Baxter for the winter birding class Saturday at North Idaho College at Sandpoint, 102 S. Euclid.

Register by contacting the NIC Workforce Training Center at 208-769-3214 or request more information by emailing workforcetraining@nic.edu. The class will meet at the south end of NIC at Sandpoint at 9 a.m. It will last until 3 p.m.; the cost is $49.

“We will focus on spotting, identifying, and enjoying the winged wildlife of our area including birds of prey, waterfowl, woodpeckers, and songbirds,” Baxter said. “Bring lunch, binoculars, spotting scopes, and snowshoes if you have them.”

Baxter wrote the cover article in Sandpoint Magazine Winter 2017 entitled “Wings of Winter.” He has degrees in both Forestry and Wildlife Management with more than 40 years of experience working in wildlife fields as well as more than 15 years teaching outdoor educational programs.
