Teachers with guns at school is a terrible idea.

Having been shot at, I know how it can get the adrenalin going. I don’t care how good your shooting stance is; when the adrenalin is flowing, you are not steady. The reason for weapons like the AR-15 is because of adrenalin. One can spray lots of bullets with accuracy not being important.

There will be friendly fire casualties with adrenalin charged teachers accidentally shooting students they’re supposed to be protecting.

The killing of Jeanetta Riley outside the Bonner General Health in 2014 saw the Sandpoint Police officers who shot Jeanetta putting two or three bullets in the hospital behind her. These highly trained officers, at very close range, missed Jeanetta at least twice. Are we saying teachers can do better?

Should a teacher’s gun accidentally discharge and kill a student, who will be financially responsible for the lawsuit to come? Will armed teachers cause insurance rates for school districts to increase? Who is responsible if a disturbed student gets a hold of a teacher’s gun and shoots someone? Who will be financially responsible if a disturbed teacher flips out and shoots someone?

Arming teachers is a stupid, stupid idea.
