Schweitzer extends season

SANDPOINT — Schweitzer Mountain Resort announced it is extending its winter season thanks to bountiful snowpack.
The resort has tallied 365 inches of white gold this season, which is enabling the resort to stay open until April 15, which is about a week later than its traditional closing period.
“Longer, sunnier days are making an appearance in the region and with a solid snowpack still in the mountains, conditions for spring skiing and riding are fantastic,” said Schweitzer’s Marketing Manager Dig Chrismer.
The long-range forecasts are calling for slightly colder temperatures and slightly above average precipitation which could bode well for the snowpack to last well into April.
“Schweitzer has over 125” of snow currently at the summit and we could see additional snowfall throughout March. With those factors in place, it just makes sense to ski and ride as long as we can,” adds Chrismer.
Schweitzer offers late season rates on slope-side lodging accommodations, which combined with the resort’s Spring Fling Pass deal, makes an affordable spring vacation possible.
“Spring Fling Passes are just $139 plus tax and give the purchaser unlimited access to the mountain until closing day,” says Chrismer. “There’s no reason for anyone to miss out on this incredible winter. We really hope everyone will take advantage of the weather and the Spring Fling Pass to enjoy the transition into spring at Schweitzer.”
