SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint Sharks are busy with spring season competitions recently, with a host of local swimmers competing at the Short Course Championships at the University of Idaho, and before that, the Junior Championships at Clarkston, Washington.

At the Short Course Championships at the University of Idaho, which swimmers had to qualify for, Ryleigh Bamer was first in the 50 breast, third in the 100 IM and fifth in the 50 free and 100 fly to show a wide range of diversity. Bamer qualified for the upcoming regionals in Federal Way, Washington, breaking Payton Bokowy’s 9-10 year-old record in the 50 butterfly.

Kate Bokowy was first in the 50 free, also qualifying for regionals, and Payton Bokowy was fifth in the 50 free and seventh in the 100 free to round out the only Bulldogs to advance to the finals at the huge meet. Payton is swimming at Sectionals this weekend.

At the Junior Championships, Lou Foust won the 50 back and 25 back, Jordyn Tomco was first in the 25 fly and fifth in the 25 back, Sarah Hogue was second in the 50 fly and 50 free, Camille McClelland was second in the 100 fly, Triston Tomco was second in the 200 free, and Caleb Norling was third in the 100 back and 200 breast to lead the Sharks.
