There is a drastic increase in violence and lawlessness in America; the tragic shooting at the Parkland, Fla., school is one of the most recent occurences. Every time there’s a school shooting, media and politicians begin wondering why: did the shooter have mental problems? A bad home life? Bullied? Then we hear the cry for stricter gun laws. Maybe school shooters have had some of the above mentioned problems, but these are not the basic, underlying cause.
After the Columbine school shooting, someone asked, “If there’s really a God, and if He cares, why didn’t He stop the shooting?”
And someone answered, “Because God isn’t allowed in schools anymore.”
America used to be a Christian nation, we aren’t any longer. The “theory” of evolution has replaced creation and God in schools and nature programs. A Barna Research study showed that of America’s general population only 4 percent had a world view that agreed with the Bible. When applied to people who claimed to be “born again” believers, just 9 percent had a biblical world view!
Research of five years ago showed that Washington, D.C., and Chicago have the strictest gun laws in the U.S., and yet they have the highest rate of murder by shooting. It’s not more laws we need, it’s a genuine return to God. God created us to know Him and to have a purpose in life, but if people believe they came from animals, they’ll act like animals, or worse; there are no restraints. America needs to return to God.
