n Bulldogs fall to Bengals

LEWISTON — Lewiston plated six first inning runs as they were able to get to Sandpoint starter Preston Pettit, as the Bengals won 6-2 over the Bulldogs in nonleague baseball on Saturday in Lewiston.

Garrett Connolly pitched five solid innings in relief, allowing six hits and striking out two after relieving Pettit in the first inning.

The Bulldogs (2-1) played mostly even with the 5A Bengals after the first inning, as the game was called in the sixth inning.

Tyler Lehman stole two bases and had a hit, while Trey Flint, Connolly and Pettit also had hits in the loss. The Bulldogs committed only one error in another strong defensive showing, as they still can’t practice outside and have adjusted on the fly to playing outside.

Sandpoint is at Priest River today, with first pitch at 3 p.m.
