As soon as my first letter was published I received a call from a friend. She had to show me something that related in a general way to our local Follies. I said ok, what do you have? She handed me her book and asked me to read from here to there. It was a brief passage on pages 42-43 of Dean Koontz’s book “The Silent Corner”:

“Online, Jane searched for and found the Gernsback Institute, which produced the annual What If Conference, among other events. Its stated purpose was to ‘inspire the imagination of leaders in business, science, government and the arts for the purpose of encouraging informed speculation in search of outside-the-box solutions to significant problems facing humanity.’ Do-gooders. For people with malicious intentions, no better cover existed than a nonprofit organization dedicated to bettering the human condition. Most of the people at the institute might in fact mean well and be doing good, but that didn’t mean they grasped the hidden intentions of its founders or their core mission.”

I thanked her for her find and mulled over the sum total of the situation. Despite the claim that “helping those in need is the real event” the core mission of the local Follies is to dramatically change the culture, one outrage at a time. The means is the end game and the purveyors of frivolity and vulgarity have been busy. It was reported awhile back that the Forrest M. Bird Charter School navigated an after-school rendezvous which directly undermined parental authority.

What’s next? A field trip to the Spokane Planned Parenthood in the school bus? Will other legitimate civic organizations try to organize locals looking for camping partners which now meet up at our local bars? Will the same proprietors be successful in lightening the load for those who opt out of wearing a swimsuit at a public beach?

Rabbi Daniel Lapin said, “when the voice of Jacob is weakened, the hands of Esau get strengthened.” I think we can safely assume that there will be many more exercises in pushing the boundaries of our culture into the abyss unless we heed this warning and strengthen the voice of Jacob.

Please stay awake and thank you for listening!
