PRIEST RIVER — Tanis Davis, Kaitlan Ward and Natalie Petit each smashed a home run, leading Sandpoint to a 17-7 win in six innings over Priest River in nonleague softball Tuesday at Priest River Jr. High.

Davis finished with four RBIs and was one of five Bulldogs with multimple hits, while Ward also added a triple and drove in three runs to lead the Sandpoint (1-2) offense.

Christy Adams stole three bases, Audrey Mattila score three times and swiped a pair of bags, while Bri Baldree had three hits, three runs and six strikeouts in relief.

Audrey Mattila got the start and picked up her first win, striking out two in four innings of work, and the Bulldogs settled in after a pair of tough opening losses in the Tri-Cities.

“Audrey pitched a very competitive game. Her and Bri were a good combination for us today,” said Bulldog head coach Elizabeth Hawkins-Williams. “We made some untimely errors, we need to tighten up our defense. Our offense came alive today. Great to see the team bounce back.”

Tawny Nichols held the Bulldogs scoreless into the third inning, and Emma Johnson had two hits and a double for the Spartans (0-3), who host Newport on Friday.

Sandpoint is at Lewiston on Saturday in a doubleheader.
