Corey Glen Magers

| March 21, 2018 1:00 AM

Corey Glen Magers was born Aug. 13, 1986, of David and Sandra Magers.

Corey was extremely active and vivacious as a toddler. Raised at Priest Lake, he spent his time chasing turkeys, building dirt bike jumps, ice skating the lake, jumping the Cushman golf cart, selling squaw fish for candy change, and skateboarding at the local campgrounds.

Corey attended Priest Lake Elementary, where he played baseball and the coach quickly chose his new name, Corey Homerun Magers. He was infatuated with dirt bikes and started working at 11 years of age to purchase his very own. Over time, he naturally became very active in repairing motorcycles and small motors. He attended Priest River Lamanna High School and probably spent a little more time in the parking lot talking diesel trucks and renovation projects than in class studying.

Corey was an avid motocross racer and won many trophies. Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix was the obvious choice for continued education, he knew wheels better than his own two feet! The summer after graduation, he moved back to Priest Lake and met the love of his life, Jennifer. They spent eight full, happy years together before they were married. He and Jen loved the outdoors and loved to camp, travel, drive around looking for firewood, fish, dirt bike, and snowmobile together. Corey also loved to hunt and shoot. He and Jen were perfect complements to each other. He’d often say “Jenny and me was like peas and carrots” (with his Forrest Gump voice). Corey was the most loyal, compassionate, genuine, and trustworthy husband and friend to so many around him. Corey lived for the adrenaline rush that came with motorsports, and for the time he could spend with his wife and mother. Corey’s girls (Jen, Sandy, and dog Abby) were his entire world.

On Saturday, March 10, 2018, Corey left this world in a tragic snow bike accident. He was riding the beautiful bluebird day with his wife, his best friend Chris, and Chris’ fiancé, Denelle.

He left behind his wife, Jennifer Magers; his mother, Sandy Magers; his sister, Sharyn (Ruslan) Borodina; and brother, Robert (Nikki) Magers; among them were also three nephews, Trysten, Keith, and Collin; two nieces, Gloria and Emily; and his dog, Abby. He is predeceased by his father, David Magers.

A celebration of life will be held at Nordman Resort at Priest Lake, Idaho, on March 24 at 2 p.m.

Sherman-Campbell Funeral and Cremation Services in Newport is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends are invited to sign the online guest book at shermancampbell.com.
