Spring entertainment options have officially sprung
SANDPOINT — Spring has officially sprung — and not a moment too soon! — so let’s see what the new season brings for entertainment.
John Craigie appears in concert tonight and tomorrow night at DiLuna’s, POAC has a wonderful ‘Celebration of Community’ concert in store Friday night at the Heartwood Center and the Panida shows ‘The Phantom Thread’ over the weekend.
On Friday, Friends of the Guitar Hour present Elizabeth C.D. Brown in concert at Holy Names Music Center in Spokane and, as always, all of your favorite haunts feature live music this week.
Make like a crocus and pop up for some good times!
Thursday, March 22
John Craigie Concert
Venue: DiLuna’s Cafe, 207 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.
Time: Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for dinner and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
If John Prine and Mitch Hedberg had a baby, the resulting product would resemble something very close to Portland, Ore., singer-songwriter John Craigie. Musically comparable to Prine, with the humor and wit of Hedberg, the humble, gracious, and hilarious Craigie is one of the best storytellers of our time. He’ll make you laugh and make you cry, all in the same song. With a fan-base that is more of a continually expanding circle of friends, John Craigie’s true passion is connecting with people through shared experiences, stories, and song.

‘Celebration of Community’
Venue: The Heartwood Center, 615 Oak St., in Sandpoint.
Time: Reception at 6 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m., concert starts at 7 p.m.
The Pend Oreille Arts Council celebrates ‘Northern Stars Rising’ in the one-of-a-kind show featuring local artists chosen by audition from a variety of genres.
Included on the bill are: The Pend Oreille Piano Trio; The Paranormal Daves; Truck Mills; Piano Jazz Annie; The Bel Canto Opera Singers; and Gems Company Dancers.
Admission: $20 adults, $10 youth 18 and under. POAC office has sold out of tickets, but Eve’s Leaves and Eichardt’s had some left as of this writing.

Friends of the Guitar Hour present Elizabeth C.D. Brown

If you enjoy Leon Atkinson’s weekly show, The Guitar Hour, on Spokane Public Radio-KPBX-FM, you’re in for a real treat with this classical guitar concert. A specialist in standard classical guitar as well as various early guitars and lutes, Elizabeth C. D. Brown is a very active performer throughout the Pacific Northwest. Highlights from recent seasons included a solo recital at the Northwest Guitar Festival as a featured artist, performing concertos by Vivaldi and Sierra and premiering a new work for guitar and orchestra with the Seattle Symphony.
An enthusiastic advocate for the guitar and lute, Elizabeth is head of the Guitar and Lute program at Pacific Lutheran University, and has taught at Cornish College of the Arts and Seattle Pacific University.
