For the Bee

n World Cup — Mikaela Shiffrin wrapped up the World Cup Finals with another Slalom Gold. Lindsey Vonn took Bronze in Super G and Tommy Ford had his best FIS result with 8th Place in Giant Slalom.

n Boden Wins Telemark Nationals – Farli Boden does double duty in the winters, training and competing in Alpine events as a member of SARS, and training and traveling independently as a national level Telemark racer. This year she won the Women’s Elite Telemark Championship based upon her combined results in two Sprint Races and the Dual race. The Sprint is unlike most ski races, including GS style gates, jumps, and a cross country skate to the finish. Each run lasts about two minutes. Farli started telemark racing at age 10.

n Western Region Championships — The Schweitzer Alpine Racing School is having a busy season. In addition to hosting the Western Region Speed Series, they were tapped to host the Western Region Championships last week due to insufficient snow in California. Four local athletes were part of the elite field from all over the West.

Farli Boden was consistent across the board with results of 20th and 25th in Super G, 28th and 23rd in Giant Slalom and 22nd and 27th in Slalom. Olivia Ederstroem posted a 39th in Super G, 36th and 35th in GS and 41/46 in Slalom. Morgan Wohllaib raced a partial schedule, finishing 37th in Slalom. Addison McNamara finished 83rd in Super G, 78/80 in GS and 58th in Slalom.

n 2,400 feet for Hank — Saturday will see this great annual event, which raises funds and awareness for Cystinosis research. The event has evolved over the years, with the endurance component eliminated. Instead, the signature event will be a team Giant Slalom races from the top of the Great Escape Quad down to the Outback Lodge.

n Potpourri — Watch here next week for results for the Youth Ski League Finals hosted by Lookout Pass Saturday and Sunday. Any comments, recommendations or contributions to this column may be sent to Shep Snow by email at shep@thesnowschool.com. Negative feedback should be sent to someone else.

The Inside Edge runs every Thursday during ski season in the Bee sports.
