Farmin-Stidwell Elementary fifth-grader Connor McClure, left, was recognized by Lake Pend Oreille School District trustees and administration during the March 13 board meeting as part of the district’s effort to recognize outstanding students. Connor, with the help of his principal, Erik Olson, showed off his Invent Idaho project. His invention, Blue Guitar, is a Bluetooth guitar that connects to a phone through an app. When the guitar is played, sound comes through the phone.

Farmin-Stidwell fifth-grader Helen Marble was one of three students to receive a student recognition award during LPOSD’s March 13 board meeting. Helen came up with the idea and started a school newspaper recently, serving as the editor in chief. Farmin-Stidwell Principal Erik Olson, right, said Helen is “so proud” every time the stack of newspapers come out, telling her, “It’s people like you who are going to make a big difference in the world.”

Farmin-Stidwell sixth-grader Tristan Anderson was one of three students to receive a student recognition award during the Lake Pend Oreille School District’s March 13 board meeting. The sixth-grade students partnered with kindergarteners this year and Farmin-Stidwell principal Erik Olson said it is “simply amazing” to watch the sixth-grade role models interact with the little ones. Tristan has been a “wonderful” leader and role model to a kindergartener who really needs it, Olson said.
