Bulldog girls first, boys second at Lewiston Invitational

LEWISTON — A host of top finishes and handful of personal bests led the Bulldog girls to the team title, and the Bulldog boys to a second place finish on Saturday at the 11 team Lewiston Invitational. All told, there were 21 personal records broken in a strong early showing for the Bulldogs.

Hannah Davidson posted a 2:23 to win the 800 meters by a full eight seconds, and Niah Brass ran a personal best 12:11 to win the 3,200 and meet the standard for the upcoming Pasco Relays. Both also teamed with Ciera Bailey and Heather Wallace to win the distance medley (400, 800, 1,200, 1,600) in 13:19, just three seconds off the meet record and also a qualifying mark for Pasco.

The boys distance medley also won, with Garrett pierce, Kyle Almeida, Sloan Woodward and Kieran Wilder clocking an 11:18.

In the 3,200, all three girls set personal records, with Wallace 3rd in 12:37 and Chloe Braedt 4th in 12:51 behind Brass. For the boys, Garrett Pierce was 3rd in 10:12, Nikolai Braedt was 5th in 10:57 (4th fastest freshman time in school history) and Cole Dillon 6th in 11:05.

In the 1,600, Chole Braedt was 3rd in a PR of 5:51, with teammates Kali Scheel and Corina Wallace close behind in 5:56 (5th place) and 6:02 (6th place). The boys 1,600 saw Seth Graham run a PR 4:56 for 4th place.

Sloan Woodward placed 2nd in the boys 800 with a 2:08, followed by teammates Kieran Wilder (2:12.13 4th place) and Nikolai Braedt (2:12.65 5th place).

Ciera Bailey placed 2nd in the 400 with a 1:04.53, while Paige Davidson was 5th in 1:05.77. In the boys 400, Kyle Almeida was 3rd, running a 55.44, Hyrum Hunsaker was 5th in 56.27, and Peik Lund was 6th in 56.68.

Jazmin Stockton continued to run well, finishing second in the 200 (28.12) and 100 (13.41). Heather Yunek was 5th in the 200 with a 29.09, with Valerie Wickboldt in 6th with 29.23. For the boys, T.J. Davis ran a 23.71 for 3rd in the 200. Tyren Witthaus was 6th in 25.03. T.J.

Davis also had a strong showing in the 110 hurdles, placing 2nd in 15.60. In the 300 hurdles, Paige Davidson was 4th in 52.00.

The relays looked strong again this week, with the girls 4x100 team of Yunek, Wickboldt, Klopman and Stockton placing 1st in a time of 52.73. The boys team of Kappen, Witthaus, Ollerton and Davis was 2nd in 46.34. In the 4x400, the girls team of Davidson, Davidson, Vincent and Bailey placed 2nd in 4:26, while the boys team of Woodward, Lund, Hunsaker and Almeida placed 3rd in 3:46.

In the field events, Hannah Davidson won the pole vault in 8’6” with Paige Davidson placing 2nd in 8’. Sam Diercks placed 2nd for the boys in 10’6.

In the long jump, Maddie Morgan flew 15’10 in her first outing of the year for 2nd place. Walker Hermann was 12th for the boys in 18’2. In the triple jump, Ammon Ollerton was 7th in 36’3.

In the throws Jake Suhr led the boys with 33’1.5 (14th place) in the shot and 94’5 (10th place) in the discus. On the girls side, Victoria Aylward was the top Sandpoint finisher in the discus with a 69’11 throw for 14th place. In the girls shot, Makayla Chapman placed 6th with a 28’2, and teammate Victoria Aylward was right behind with a 28’1 for 7th place.

Sandpoint is off until April 11, when the Bulldogs host a quad meet with Lake City, Post Falls and Lakeland.
