n Emerald Empire Youth Ski League Finals — The season for the under 12 crowd ended last weekend at Lookout Pass with Slalom and Giant Slalom competition. Despite blizzard conditions during squalls on Saturday, the racers had a perfect surface for all events. In addition to individual competition, the Schweitzer Alpine Racing School repeated as the overall League Champion.

Top local finishers (top 15 only) were: Boys U12: Cadin Billstin 12th in Slalom and 15th in Giant Slalom. U10 Boys: Jeru Gidley was 3rd in Giant Slalom and Dakota Landwehr was 6th in Slalom. U8 Boys: Logan Johnston was 9th in Slalom and 11th in Giant Slalom. Girls U8: Faith Stephany was 13th in Slalom and 9th in Giant Slalom. Other participants were Grace Meekings, Riley Murphy, Crosby Schmidt and James Schriber.

n 2400 feet for Hank — This popular community event raised more than $160,000 for Cystinosis research Saturday, in addition to providing fun competition for participants. Great progress is being made towards improving treatments for this rare disease, and eventually finding a cure. Our communities’ fundraising efforts play a large role in those successes.

n Potpourri — Watch here next week for results for the Buddy Werner U14 Championships hosted by SATS Thursday through Sunday. Any comments, recommendations or contributions to this column may be sent to Shep Snow by email at shep@thesnowschool.com. Negative feedback should be sent to someone else.
