Davidson, Davis lead Bulldog boys and girls to titles at Timberlake

| May 1, 2018 1:00 AM

SPIRIT LAKE — Senior Hannah Davidson had another stellar meet, clocking a 5:10.74 to win the 1,600 and break Danya Rumore’s SHS record of 5:12.23 set in 2003, and T.J. Davis had another strong meet with three firsts as both the Bulldog boys and girls teams claimed titles at the Timberlake Invitational on Friday night.

Davidson also won the 400, and now has the fastest 4A time in the state in the 1,600, the second fastest in the 800 and the fifth fastest in the 400, as she continues to show versatility on the track. Traditionally an 800 runner at state, she crushed the true mile race, earning the Athlete of the Meet award in the process.

“A strong, smart and gritty race to produce an incredibly fast time,” described Bulldog distance coach Angie Brass. “She is in a great position going into the championship meets of the season with regionals and state ahead.”

The boys team won with 150 points, 49 points ahead of second place Timberlake.

T.J. Davis was 1st in the 110 hurdles in 15.62 and first in the 300 hurdles with a 41.20 (4 second PR) and 2nd in the 200 in 23.34, and was named the male track Athlete of the Meet for his three firsts and one second.

At the Lakeland Relays last week, the girls distance medley relay team (400, 400, 800, 1600) of Ciera Bailey, Niah Brass and Hannah and Paige Davidson, broke the meet record with a 10:15, topping a record that had stood since 1995.

Sandpoint will compete at the Meet of Champions in Post Falls this coming Thursday. The meet is made up of the top 16 athletes registered in each event from all schools in District I, regardless of size classification.
