Wilks, Deprez lead Bulldogs on home course
SANDPOINT — The Golden Bear’s only Idaho handiwork was enjoyed by area high school teams on Monday, as The Idaho Club played host to the eight-team Sandpoint Invitational.
CeCe Deprez led the Bulldog girls to a fifth place finish with a 95, followed by the steady Camille Neuder (96) and Hattie Larson (98), as the trio of freshmen continue to impress. The surprise for the girls team was turned in by JV player Annaby Kanning, who came out of nowhere to card a 97 and earn the respect of her head coach.
“She came on strong today, her lowest score had been 121, she shaved 24 strokes off her normal,” said Bulldog head coach Tom Tharp. “The scores were decent for our boys, I was happy with what the boys did.”
Lake Wilks once again led the Bulldog boys with a 85, followed by Nick Crowley (88), as the Bulldogs got to play on their home course. The Idaho Club opened for play on Sunday, so the high schoolers are among the first to play on the tough track on Monday.
“They mowed the greens this morning, so they were fairly quick,” said Tharp, as the host Bulldog offered up some great hospitality. “They all got hamburgers, and everybody seemed to have a great time out there.”
Sandpoint is at the Lakeland Invitational on Friday, with the girls at The Links and the boys at Twin Lake Village.
