SANDPOINT — Sandpoint senior three-sport athlete Ciera Bailey signed a letter of intent recently to compete in track and field at the College of Idaho in Caldwell next season.

The NAIA school does a great job recruiting its home state, and landed the cross country, basketball and track athlete who competed for one season after moving to Sandpoint as a senior. Her parents Dee and Chad Bailey are from Sandpoint.

Bailey is a versatile track athlete, competing in the 400, and the 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 relays, able to excel at the middle distances. She is No. 18 on the SHS 5K list, and contributed to the Bulldogs’ state trophy in cross country this fall. She also started at point guard and helped the Bulldogs make it to state in basketball, and figures to make state for the third time as the track season winds down.

“Ciera is a versatile, tough competitor. She is an incredible teammate,” lauded distance coach Angie Brass, noting Bailey is usually in four events. “She adds strength, hard-work, humor and dependability. Ciera will thrive as she steps forward to the collegiate level.”
