Hathaway, Kiebert lead Wampus Cats at NSL championships

HARRISON FLATS — Sophomore Sara Hathaway won the 100 hurdles, the 300 hurdles and the high jump, and was second in the 100 meters, leading the Clark Fork girls to a third place team finish at the North Star League championships Tuesday at Kootenai High School.

Hathaway’s time of 48.9 in the 300 hurdles is the second best in the state in 1A this year, just .4 from first, her jump of 5-0 is currently second in the high jump state rankings just one inch from first, and she is also ranked No. 3 in the 100 hurdles at 16.8.

Ellie Kiebert jumped a personal best 13-6 to win the long jump, while also taking third in the shot (27-5) and fifth in the discus with a PR of 71-2, and Autumn Haller was second in the 200 meters and 100 hurdles in a strong showing by the Clark Fork girls. Reba Decker, Haller, Darby Kaiser and Kiebert were second in the 4x100 relay, and Kaiser was fourth in the 200 (34.03) to round out the girls in the top five.

Josh Constantin was second in the high jump, and Michael Myers was third in the 100 to lead the Clark Fork boys. Other top five finishes included Myers 4th in the 200 with a PR of 26.5 and 5th in the long jump (15-9), and Isaac Steele was 5th in the 100 (14.0) to round out the top five placers.

Wallace’s boys won the team title for the third time in five years, while the Wallace girls won for the second straight year.

Select Wampus Cats will compete in the District 1 all-star meet on Thursday at Post Falls High, where the best marks from 1A-5A are invited to compete.
