May 8, 1968 — HOME BURGLARIZED

Dr. Richard Neuder, 1100 Birch, reported April 30 that his home had been entered. He reported loss of cash from a billfold. Neuder said he was gone from the house for a short while and thinks he scared the burglars off as he returned.

GIRLS STATE DELEGATES FETED

A Girls State Tea was held Sunday afternoon at First Presbyterian church. Delegates from Sandpoint are Pat Chronic, Chris Faux and Marcia Sodorff. Alternates are Cory Moon, Linda Becker and Beth Thompson.

EAKIN WINS SCHOLARSHIP

Miss Anne E. Eakin, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. L.F. Eakin, 521 Alder, Sandpoint, is one of only 11 Idaho students to be awarded a national merit scholarship. She is salutatorian of the Class of 1968.

SPEELMON ASSIGNED

Army Pfc. Douglas M. Speelmon, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin E. Speelmon, Clark Fork, has been assigned as a driver in the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment at Camp Blackhorse, Vietnam.

Evidently some people in high authority need to be reminded that the eagle and not the ostrich is the national bird.

HEINO REIN NOT IN GERMAN PRISON

A letter received by Mrs. James Folden from her son Heino Rein, reported recently in the Associated Press as being held as a German prisoner, stated he was in Chicago and had not been in the naval service. He had seen his name in the A.P. as a German prisoner but was at a loss to know how it came to be there.

Commencement exercises for the class of 1918 of the Sandpoint high school will occur at the Liberty theatre on Wednesday evening, May 15.

The roll, according to the courses in which they graduate, is as follows: English course - Charles H. Bond, Mary Helphrey, Dora A. Swanson. Commercial - Stella Loren Buckman, Edwin N. Eckholm, Mabel Delana Klaus, Mabel Nettlingham, Charles E. Selle, Rei E. Townsend, Florence Cecelia Ruen. General - Flora Caroline Campbell, Dorothy Marie Chaffins, J. Charles Clinton, Ethel Leone Eddy, Percy L. Kircheck, Ethylyn Marie Mason, Angeline R. Turinsky. Scientific - Lucy Cathryn Eaman, Minnie Isabelle Hadley, Florence Louise Lepka, John W. Nelson, Herrmann G. Page, Thornton Bandelin.

The salutatorian of the class is Miss Ethel Eddy and the valedictorian is Miss Ethylyn Mason.
