(Photo by MARY MALONE) It was an emotional meeting of the Lake Pend Oreille School Board on Tuesday as school administrators asked the board to consider naming the track and field the “Dave DeMers Track and Field Complex.” DeMers, pictured getting a hug, recently tendered his resignation as head coach of the Sandpoint High School Bulldog track team after 27 years. He sat stunned with surprise as the crowd who gathered at the board meeting stood to applaud him, followed by hugs and tears from family and friends.
