This is an exciting week. After Tuesday, May 15, we, the people of Bonner County will no longer be the target audience for the Friends of Scotchman Peaks.. All their lies about strong community support, their emotional pleas for the congressional wilderness designation to “preserve” Scotchman Peaks for our children and grandchildren, the continual reminders that “nothing is going to change.” The list gets bigger with each passing week.

Here’s the deal. They obviously do not know how wise the people of this county really are. If Sen. Risch keeps his word, he will let us decide. And, then, let’s hope that the topic is closed. No more options; no repackaging of the same issue. There are so many important things going on in the world today, and for us, fighting to keep our state land is one of them.
