I’d like to summarize some indisputable facts we’ve learned about Rep. Heather Scott in her four years in the Idaho Legislature and contrast it with that of her opponent’s track record:
- Takes her elected duties seriously — an exemplary attendance record with only one excused absence in four years. Her opponent’s absentee rate as the Wrenco Republican precinct committee person was 85 percent until he ran for this position.
- Serious about protecting the Second Amendment — she was the original sponsor of permitless carry in Idaho (now law); sponsored the Stand Your Ground bill (now law); endorsed by Dick Heller, the NRA, and GOA; and organized the citizens protection rally for veteran John Arnold in Priest River when the VA wanted to confiscate his guns. Her opponent says he owns a gun, has no voting record on Second Amendment issues and was a no-show at the John Arnold rally.
- Protects North Idaho’s rural self-reliant lifestyle — which in her 15 years of living here she saw threatened in terms of personal freedoms, private property rights, access to natural resources, and the proposed HiTest smelter. Her opponent thinks being a fourth generation Idahoan is all that is needed to run for office and hasn’t used his 60-plus years of living here to effect serious lifestyle protections.
There is only one person to choose for the District 1A seat on May 15 — Rep. Heather Scott. A proven fighter for our way of life in North Idaho. She won’t compromise liberties and principles for special interest money.
