Plant ID course set for Thursday

| May 9, 2018 1:00 AM

Back by popular demand, Carol Mack will, again, present her fun and educational “Wildflower and Plant Identification” class on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.at the Camas Center for Community Wellness, 1821 Le Clerc Road North, across the river from Cusick.

Participants will view a slideshow of seasonal local plants with emphasis on edible and medicinal species; learn about helpful resources for plant ID for the area; and participate in a hands-on botany lab focused on distinguishing six major plant families. Class members are encouraged to bring pictures or samples of plants to the class for possible ID.

“There will also be at least one follow-up field trip scheduled”, says Mack.

The class, sponsored by WSU/Pend Oreille County Master Gardeners and Kalispel Tribal Extension, is free but please pre-register by calling the WSU/Pend Oreille County Extension Office at 1-509 447-2401 to provide contact information should the class schedule change and ensure adequate materials for all participants will be available.

This is the sixth class in a series of gardening and nature presentations scheduled by the Pend Oreille County Master Gardeners for 2018.
