I apologize to anyone offended by my “poor ugly stepsister” remarks regarding the Department of Motor Vehicles. Historically the DMV has been a neglected division of the Assessor’s Office. I received many comments from present and past employees that agree with the sentiment and took no offence to the name, so no pending lawsuits.

On the radio, I also said that these employees are important. My meaning was that as the assessor, this division would not be neglected. Again, I apologize if I offended anyone.
