Mother's day weekend loaded with entertainment

SANDPOINT – Mother’s Day Weekend is loaded with fun! Friday brings us the monthly contra dance at Community Hall and the Bridges Home CD Release Concert at the Pearl Theater in Bonners Ferry.

Saturday is chock-full of action, including the Reunion Beatles tribute concert at the Panida, the 5K in May Fun Run at Dover, Farmers Market with music by Ruff Shod and, on Sunday, celebrate Mother’s Day by joining the CycloFemme de Sandpoint Bike Ride, starting at Greasy Fingers Bikes N’ Repair.

Thursday, May 10

Open Mic with Kevin Dorin

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6 p.m.

MickDuff’s Beer Hall and Kevin Dorin are excited to welcome all local artists over 21 years of age for a fun and open night of playing at the Beer Hall! All levels of performers are welcome.

Admission: Free for those 21 and over.

Friday, May 11

Sandpoint Contra Dance

Venue: Sandpoint Community Hall, 204 S. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7-10 p.m.

Celebrate the joys of community by dancing with friends! Live music will be provided by Crooked Kilt with fiddle, guitar and a drummer or two and all dances will be called by Emily Faulkner. First-time dancers are encouraged to arrive on time for an introductory dance at 7 pm. Bring clean, comfortable, non-marking shoes to dance in.

Admission: Suggested donation is $5 per person, $20 for families. Please bring finger food or snacks to share at the break.

Bridges Home CD Release Concert

Venue: Pearl Theater, 7160 Ash St., in Bonners Ferry.

Time: Doors at 6 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m.

For our friends up north – and Sandpoint folks looking for a short trip to take in some new music — the trio hits this lovely venue to share the songs from our brand-new album.

Admission: $12 in advance, $15 at the door, $5 students, available at Bonners Books, Mountain Mike’s and the door on the night of the concert.

Mobius Riff is one of the most talented ensembles out there. Don’t mss this chance to enjoy their exemplary musicianship.

Double Down

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

This Spokane-based duo will have you up and dancing while playing a variety of classic rock, southern rock, Texas Blues, country rock and Americana.

Ron Greene with Tod Hornby & Alex Rima

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6:30 p.m.

As a soloist Greene’s intimate stage presence has gained him a reputation as a passionate singer and paired with his two friends, it’s a full fun sound that rocks house.

Daniel Mills

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Daniel is spectacular with the guitar and his songwriting, featuring an Indie rock sound.

‘Full Draw Film Tour’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: Doors at 6 p.m., films start at 7 p.m.

The primary goal is to unite bowhunters, fuel outdoorsmen and create excitement for all those passionate about archery. Not rated.

Reunion Beatles - Fantasy Tribute Concert

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: Doors at 6:30 p.m., Show starts at 7:30 p.m.

In 1967, The Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,’ became the soundtrack for The Summer Of Love. Now, 50 years later, The Beatles are back together. Never mind that two of their members are no longer alive. The Reunion Beatles – Fantasy Tribute is the rock and roll reunion of all time.

Ruff Shod

Venue: Sandpoint Farmers Market, Farmin Park, Third Ave. & Oak St., downtown Sandpoint.

Time: Market starts at 9 a.m., music from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

There’s nothing like live music from local favorite Ruff Shod floating through the air as you stroll through our magical farmer’s market – yep, it’s market season!

5K in May Fun Run

Venue: Dover Barn in West Dover Bay

Time: 9 a.m.

Pend d’Oreille Winery presents the 5K in May Fun Run at Dover Bay Barn at 9am on Saturday May 12! With help from Dover Bay Resort, Winter Ridge Natural Foods Market and Starbucks they will have coffee, food, prizes and Moms will receive a special gift!

Admission: Entry fee is $5. To pre-register, call the Pend d’Oreille Winery tasting room at 208-265-8545.

Authors’ Book Reading

Venue: Vanderford’s Bookstore, 201 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 2 p.m.

Featured authors who will be reading excerpts from their books include: Ken Fischman with ‘Sleeping With Wolves;’ Debbie Elster and ‘Only From Heaven;’ and Bill Collier reading from ‘CIA Super Pilot Spills The Beans.’

Admission: Free and open to the public.

Greg Mahuguh

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Second Saturday Artist Feature

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5 p.m.

The Second Saturday Artist Feature is a new monthly event at the Winery. Every Second Saturday they feature a different local artist’s artwork for a whole month and May’s artist is Jodie Stejer.

Admission: Free and open to the public, with a $5 suggested minimum donation to benefit the Freedom House.

Spring Cornhole Tourney

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 312 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: Registration ends at 12:30 p.m., first toss at 1 p.m.

It’s the annual Spring Cornhole Classic (Rain or Shine)! Cornhole kings and queens will be taking to outdoor court or inside the brewery where they will have up to four regulation courts set up to test your tossin’ abilities in a double elimination tournament.

Register via phone at 208-209-6700, by dropping in days before or day of at 11am (that’s when the doors open).

Admission: $10 per person or $20 buy-in per team for those 21 and over.

CycloFemme de Sandpoint Bike Ride

Venue: Greasy Fingers Bikes N’ Repair, 108 N. Third Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 2 p.m.

Join Greasy Fingers Bikes N’ Repair to celebrate and encourage women of all ages to ride their bikes at this worldwide event. This will be a casual group ride out the Dover bike path to the marina and back (8 miles round trip). Although this is about women, manbassadors (or men) are also encouraged to come and show support.
